Why Westport?

Westport is a busy tourist town on the edge of Clew Bay.  Why might you, a prospective student, choose to study here?  Well, many of Westport’s residents have chosen to relocate to the town from all over Ireland and further afield and that, combined with a lively year-round tourist presence, gives the town a vibrant cosmopolitan character.

The town has much to offer, located as it is near beaches, mountains and lakes.  There is a buzzing social scene in Westport with hotels, restaurants, cafes and pubs as well as a cinema, several gyms and swimming pools, an astroturf pitch, golf course and many more social and sporting amenities.  Westport has a fine selection of shops, and Castlebar with its range of chain stores is only 17 km away while Galway and Sligo are within easy striking distance.

There is plenty of high-standard accomodation available for rent in the town as well as some excellent B&Bs, especially off-season, which, of course, suits student needs.

All in all Wesport is an engaging, friendly town with something to offer everyone.  We hope you enjoy your time here!
