Erasmus+ Visitors to Westport College of Further Education

Westport College of Further Education has a number of partner colleges throughout Europe.  Throughout the year some of our partner college sends staff and students to Westport College of Further Education for placement or training. 

April 2017 – Estonia Pärnumaa Vocational Education Centre

Westport College of Further Education welcomed Elerin Ein and Hanna-Liisa Holm from Estonia who completed their Erasmus+ placement in Hotel Westport.  We wished them the best of luck in their placement.  The students are from Pärnumaa Vocational Education Centre (PVEC), a vocational school, situated in south-west of Estonia, in Pärnu.

Left hand picture below shows Principal Michael Murphy and Mary Greally Director of Adult Education with the visiting students.  The right hand picture shows the student’s last day in Westport where our students cooked them a  traditional Irish lunch.

 May 2017 – Estonia Pärnumaa Vocational Education Centre

In May 2017, two teachers, Teele Luks and Sirje Pauskar from Estonia visited Westport College of Further Education.  The teachers visited VTOS Castlebar where they got a tour of the VTOS building and got time to meet students and staff of the VTOS programme.  The teachers also visited Youthreach in Balinrobe where they got a chance to meet the staff and students from the Youthreach programme.  Teele Luks speaks about our Erasmus+ programme in the video below.

 

April 2018 – Estonia Pärnumaa Vocational Education Centre

In April 2018, three teachers, Vive Ollo,  Erna Gross, Malle Kallus from Pärnumaa Vocational Education Centre spent one week in Westport College of Further Education.  These teachers job shadowed our teachers throughout the day.  During this time they got a chance to observe our teachers and their teaching methods.  The visiting teachers also visited VTOS Castlebar where they got a tour of the VTOS building and got time to meet students and staff of the VTOS programme.

April 2018 – Haapsalu Vocational Education and Training Centre

In April 2018 we welcomed Kristin Otti and Annely Jüristo to Westport College of Further Education. Kristin and Annely completed one months work placement in Creative Wood in Westport.  Creative Wood was founded in 1993 and they have since provided the Irish market with top quality bespoke kitchens and furniture.  The students gained hands on practical experience in their high quality furniture making factory.
