In January 2018, four Students of Agriculture and two students of Horticulture completed their three-week work placement near Nimes in the south of France. Two students worked at Hortigard, in Manduel. This is an extensive horticultural facility with a Garden Centre business attached. Four of the students lived at worked at Legtpa Marie Durand College in Rodihlan. The College has a strong tradition of agriculture and horticulture, with its own vineyards and wine making facilities for an all-round education in the process. It offered the students the opportunity to work within an agricultural area and climate very different to what the are used to here in Ireland. They also had a wonderful opportunity to explore the nearby cities and experience the local culture at the weekends. See some pictures here from our students’ experience.
“It was a wonderful experience, going to France and taking in the culture, sights and sounds of the French people and lifestyle.” – Genevieve Horticulture
